Brave Falcons in Doha Trojans Tournament

07/09/10

It was the tournament that showed the real Falcons team spirit. 8 players only could fly to Doha for Trojan tournament. the lowest number ever for a team who usually enjoys enough players to field an entire squad. it was Friday the 13th and bad luck started to strike when both Ange and Paula realised, arriving at Abu Dhabi Airport, that they had forgotten their passports.  Ange's Anton jumped in the car and made on time to bring her passport 10 minutes before departure. Paula's Gareth, jumped in a cab and met, in extremis, Paula at Dubai airport.  So all 8 made it to Doha. running onto the field right before the first game, Laurence rolled her ankle and was therefore unavailable for the whole tournament.

Thankfully, we could count on a few Hurricane players, and later on Kuwait players, to make up our numbers and help us out.

It was a great day. 2 great wins over Exiles and Doha trojans. An incredible spirit. Newby Emily (first game ever, first time on the pitch) is now renamed 'Emilomu' after an amazin charge to the try line with 2 players on her back, offloading just on time to let Ange score the best team try of the season. Well done Emily !

Lisa G, despite her claims of being unfit, played superbly well, scoring an storming 3 tries and tackling like a madwoman.

Man of the match was given to Carly for her consistency on the pitch, and the most beautiful series of run and passes we have seen. Congrats Carly.

We all left with high spirits, proud of what the Falcons can achieve, even when it doesn't look so good from the start !

One more tournament for the season, but whatever the result, we know we have built this year the best, the most spirited, and most fun team in Dubai ! Go Falcons !
